How Pantogar works
Hair cells are among the cells that divide most actively in the human body. If you were to string together the growth of each hair, 30m of hair would be created per day over the entire head.
Pantogar® capsules provide the hair roots with a variety of nutrients that are important for the formation of new hair cells.
Pantogar® capsules thus stimulate the hair cells to form new cells; the hair goes from the resting or loss phase back into the active growth phase. Pantogar® capsules are well tolerated.
The Pantogar® active ingredients
Cystine, an amino acid, is largely responsible for the structure of hair keratin and promotes the growth of healthy hair.
B-group vitamins, such as thiamine (vitamin B1) and calcium pantothenate (vitamin B5), are indispensable for the high metabolic activity in the formation of new hair cells.
Medicinal yeast has a high content of vitamins, essential amino acids, minerals, trace elements and enzymes and is a rich source of B-group vitamins. It has beneficial effects on the metabolism of the skin and hair.
Keratin, a sulphur-rich protein, forms the main component of the hair.
How to use Pantogar®
Take one Pantogar® capsule three times per day for 3-6 months. Pantogar® capsules should be swallowed whole with a little liquid.
The key to success is patience
The treatment period is related to the growth cycle: hair growth and hair loss are a slow process and it can take some weeks for a telogen hair to actually fall out. This means that even after the start of treatment, hairs which were already in “shedding mode” before the start of treatment may fall out.
During treatment with Pantogar® capsules, the metabolism of the hair root is activated directly and the formation of new cells is stimulated. Hair loss is halted and the hair returns to the growth phase, restoring the natural balance. However, as hair only grows around one centimeter per month, it takes a few months for the success of the treatment to become visible.
Remember that everybody is unique, so Pantogar® capsules take effect at a different speed – depending on the phase of life most of your hair is currently in and how quickly it reacts to the supply of active substances.
Why do I have to use the products for at least three months?
The hair root usually takes three months until it can fully resume its activity and produce new hair cells. Unfortunately, many users become impatient and abandon the therapy after only a few weeks. Studies have shown that as many as 30 percent of patients no longer comply with their treatment plan after just 10 days.
In the directions for use included with each medicine, you will find information about the dosage. Your doctor or pharmacist may also give you a recommendation that is different to the directions for use for your particular case. The term “compliance” is used to describe taking your medication (e.g. Pantogar®) according to the recommended guidelines.
The dosage recommendation and treatment duration are determined by clinical studies. This knowledge is translated into the dosage recommendations, which you will find in the directions for use of a medication.
Convincing results
Scientifically proven efficacy
The effectiveness and good tolerability of Pantogar® capsules has been proven in comprehensive scientific studies.
A meta-analysis (evaluation of several studies) of Pantogar® capsules, which comprises the results of 11 scientific studies involving a total of over 1,600 patients, proves the effectiveness of treatment with this combination of active ingredients for diffuse hair loss.
Studies involving Pantogar®
At a dermatology conference in 2012, dermatologist Dr. med. Andreas Finner (Berlin) presented results of a study on the use of a combination of the active ingredients cystine, thiamine, calcium panthothenate and medicinal yeast in women with diffuse hair loss. This meta-analysis comprises the results of 11 scientific studies involving a total of over 1,600 patients and proves the effectiveness of treatment with this combination of active ingredients for diffuse hair loss.

In a clinical and blinded* study of 30 otherwise healthy women, Lengg and colleagues investigated the effect of a product containing a combination of the active ingredients cystine, thiamine, calcium panthothenate and medicinal yeast for the treatment of diffuse hair loss. Taking the active ingredient medication for 6 months led to a normalisation of the number of hairs that were in the growth phase (anagen hair rate) and improved the overall impression of the hair status (1).
Another clinical and blinded* study by Budde and colleagues of 72 patients showed an increase in the number of hairs in the growth phase (anagen hair rate) in the group treated with a combination of cystine, thiamine, calcium panthothenate and medicinal yeast after just 4 months. Furthermore, the hair quality improved under this combination and at the same time the therapy was well tolerated (2).
In a multicentre observational study by Thomas Bergner, 1,194 patients with diffuse hair loss and 642 patients with nail growth disorders were studied. After 3-6 months of use, the therapeutic effect on hair loss and nail growth was assessed as good or very good by doctors and patients in 87-90% of the cases. The therapy reduced the number of hairs falling out daily to a normal level (80-100 hairs) (3).
